Hello, Hafa Adai and Olomwaay! Welcome to the Department of Commerce Economic Development website. The goal of our Division is to aid businesses in finding investment information on the CNMI and to guide them through the process of setting up shop in the Northern Marianas Islands. Fundamentally speaking, we, the Economic Development Division, aim to help make the work of opening a business in the CNMI easy for you, the investor.
Keeping with that fundamental goal, we have created the One Start Licensing Office to aid in the process of picking up and submitting all required business applications at one convenient location. Our One Start office is currently located in the 2nd floor of the Joeten DanDan Building on the island of Saipan within the same office as the Registrar of Corporation. In a nutshell, an investor can pick-up and more importantly submit all completed applications to this office. The Commerce license applications and other necessary paperwork offered include ABTC, Banking, Insurance, and the Registrar of Corporations. Along with the Commerce licenses, an investor can also pick up a general business application from our office.
We have also included a PDF version of our investment guide which we are currently handing out to investors. Our investment guide is currently in the following languages: English, Chinese; (pg. 1-6) and (pg. 7-12), Japanese, and Korean. In the guide we provide basic information regarding different incentives the CNMI can offer to potential investors. In the case that you wish to acquire more detailed information to investing in the Northern Mariana Islands, we offer you an investment guide courtesy of the Commonwealth Development Authority. For statistical data on the Commonwealth, please make it a point to visit our Central Statistics Division web page.
